Project Description

Oxfordshire Village House I

A modern-day sanctuary was required by a couple relocating from London to the Cotswolds.  Originally two cottages, the property had been extended to four times the size of its original footprint and needed comprehensive spatial redesigning.

Throughout the property, narrow corridors were widened by removing unnecessary cupboards and bathrooms were repositioned to reshape existing bedrooms.  A modern country style was achieved using a light palette of colours, natural materials and beautiful textured fabrics.  The couple’s treasured art collection played an important role in the design, whilst the theme of travel was more generally reflected in a collection of wonderful, eclectic pieces.  A new, refreshing relationship was forged between the house and its surrounding landscape which now encompasses two terraces, a pool, tennis court, wild flower meadow and an award-winning raised vegetable garden.

The end result is a relaxing house and garden ideal for entertaining with marvellous family-friendly spaces.
